Teen Vogue: “The Kissing Booth 3” to Debut on Netflix in 2021

From Teen Vogue : “The Kissing Booth 3” to Debut on Netflix in 2021

If you had a feeling that a third Kissing Booth movie was in the works from Netflix after the sequel ended with several questions, your suspicions were correct: The Kissing Booth 3 is officially happening!

The cast announced the upcoming third installment in a super-cute video shared to the film’s official Instagram account on Sunday, July 26. In the clip, we see stars Joey King and Joel Courtney walking together as Joel is casually texting on his phone. In Elle-esque fashion, Joey exclaims: “What are you doing?! You can’t send that!” From there, we see several cast members — including newcomers Taylor Zakhar Perez and Maisie Richardson-Sellers — react to the news with plenty of excited emojis.

But perhaps the best part of the video, and one worthy of all the LOLs, is when Jacob Elordi shows up at the end. Plopping down poolside across from Joey and Joel, the actor smiles and asks: “What’d I miss?” The short teaser ends with the words The Kissing Booth 3, adding that the film is slated to make its Netflix debut in 2021.

The big news was also celebrated by the cast in a YouTube livestream on Sunday afternoon where they shared that the third film was filmed at the same time as the sequel, meaning they’ve been doing a very good job of keeping this secret. The livestream also featured a small snippet from The Kissing Booth 3 as a little taste of what’s to come. In the scene, we see Elle hanging out by the pool with Noah, Lee, and Rachel when she receives a phone call from the Harvard admission office. She ultimately declines the call, looking momentarily stressed out, but then disappears into the house with Noah so he can “read some new poetry and tell me all about his feelings.” Suuuuuure, Elle.

Plenty of fans guessed that a third movie was on the horizon after The Kissing Booth 2 ended on a fairly large cliffhanger, with — spoiler alert! — Elle receiving college acceptances from both Harvard and Berkeley. There’s also the small matter of Marco’s serious feelings for her, and the big question surrounding whether or not Elle and Chloe will become friends. Fortunately, it seems as though all will be answered in the coming film — even if we do have to wait until next year to see it. In the mean time, we’ll be re-watching the first two films, and trying all summer long to perfect Elle and Marco’s dance moves.

While the actors are understandably excited for the third installment, they are also grateful for the fans and viewers — something that Joey made clear on Sunday's livestream. "I want to thank the fans for their tremendous support… the explosion of love has been so real,” she said. “It’s because of everyone on here that all of this has happened.”
