The real heart of the movie comes from the relationships of the kids', it isn't very often that you always buy every friendship between child actors' in films but I was sold on every one of them in 'Super 8'. In Particular Joel Courtney and Elle Fanning. They had me from the first time they looked each other in the eye, and I rooted for them the whole way through. Their chemistry was amazing and helped make this film a definite winner throughout.

I do know that Joel Courtney, as the main kid, as well as Elle Fanning, were both terrific, and a lot of the movie's appeal was because they pulled off wonderful, realistic, incredibly grounded portrayals of being kids in 1980 without a hint of guile.
