British actor Jon Fletcher (The Good Wifeis set to co-star in CW drama pilot The Messengers from feature producer Basil Iwanyk (the Clash Of The Titans franchise) and CBS TV Studios. Stephen Williams (Lost) has been tapped to direct. The Messengers starts with a mysterious object crashing down to Earth. A group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse, but then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse. Fletcher, repped by Resolution and One Entertainment, will play Joshua, a charismatic and compelling pastor at a Texas mega-church. Williams is with UTA and Oasis Media Group.

Jesus is coming to The CW.

Diogo Morgado, who played Jesus in Mark Burnett's Son of God and The Bible, has been tapped to co-star in the network's drama pilot The Messengers.

The Messengers centers on a mysterious object that crashes down to Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse. They then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.

Morgado will play a character referred to as The Man, a mysterious figure who wakes up naked and burned in the desert and sets out on a mission to provide some answers about the strange events.

Sofia Black-D'Elia (Skins), Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Jon Fletcher co-star in the drama from CBS Television Studios and Thunder Road. Teen Wolf'sEoghan O'Donnell will pen the script. The Town'sBasil Iwanyk will exec produce, while O'Donnell will serve as a co-EP alongside Kent Kubena and Ava JamshidiStephen Williams will direct the pilot, which is filming in Albuquerque, N.M.

For Morgado, the role marks the Portuguese actor and former model's first regular role on a U.S. series. His resume includes a lengthy roster of Portuguese telenovelas and TV series including Amo-te Teresa. His credits also include an episode of ABC's Revenge. He's repped by Park Noack Agency and Spellbound Entertainment.

The actor is currently starring in Burnett and Roma Downey's Son of God, the duo's feature film follow-up to History channel's record-breaking 10-part miniseries The Bible.

Diogo Morgado steps into another mysterious role for The CW's apocalyptic drama pilot, “The Messengers.”

The actor will play a role simply called “The Man” on the project from “Clash of the Titans” producer Basil Iwanyk, TheWrap has learned.

The pilot follows a group of seemingly unconnected strangers when a mysterious object crashes down to earth kills them with an energy pulse. But, They later awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse.

Morgado's role is described as a mysterious figure who wakes up naked and burned in the desert and sets out on a mission to provide some answers about the strange events.

The actor's portrayal of Jesus in History Channel's “The Bible,” which was later released theatrically as “Son of God,” has caused some controversy as one CNN host has complained that Morgado is too sexy in the role.

He also appeared on ABC's “Revenge.” A native of Portugal, he starred on the No. 1 rated Portuguese television series and International Emmy winner “Laços de Sangue,” among many other roles.

Executive produced by Iwanyk, “The Messengers” will be written and co-executive produced by Eoghan O'Donnell (“Teen Wolf”) for CBS TV Studios.

Thunder Road's Kent Kubena and Industry Entertainment's Ava Jamshidi are also co-executive-producing.

The Park Noack Agency and Spellbound Entertainment represent Morgado.

Black-D’Elia, will play Erin, who despite the stresses in her life, is eager to make a new life for herself and her young daughter far away from her hot-headed ex-husband. Courtney, will play Peter, a loner who was raised in a group home and is bullied constantly.

Black-D’Elia stars in the upcoming feature Welcome To Yesterday and HBO pilot Criminal Justice. Courtney next will be seen in feature Sins Of Our Youth.

The CW has recruited Skins and Super 8 alums as the first ones cast in alien drama The Messengers.

Sofia Black-D'Elia (Skins) and Joel Courtney(Super 8) have booked regular roles in the drama pilot from Teen Wolf's Eoghan O'Donnell.

The Messengers centers on a mysterious object that crashes down to Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse. They then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.

Black-D'Elia will co-star as Erin, the mother of a young girl who is forced to drive an escaped inmate to Houston. She's described as bubbly despite the stress in her life. She's killed by the pulse but wakes up. The casting brings her back into The CW's fold after her recurring role on Gossip Girl. Her credits also include Betrayal and All My Children. She's repped by ICM Partners, Brookside and CESD.

Courtney, meanwhile, will portray Peter, an Emo outsider who is accused of trying to commit suicide when he drowns in a pool from the pulse who gains immense strength when he awakens. Repped by CAA, Principato Young and Felker Toszek, his credits include R.L.Stine'The Haunting Hour and The Between.

O'Donnell will pen the script and serve as a co-EP on the drama from CBS Television Studios and Thunder Road. Basil Iwanyk (The Town) will exec produce, while Kent Kubena and Ava Jamshidi are attached to co-EP.
