J.J. Abrams’ Films, Ranked Worst to Best

The Wrap: J.J. Abrams’ Films, Ranked Worst to Best

Super 8 is #3 best, right after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015) and "Star Trek" (2009)

3. "Super 8" (2011) The only original film Abrams has directed is, ironically, a pastiche of iconic 1980s cinematic sci-fi–fantasy movies. “Super 8” tells the story of a group of adolescent amateur filmmakers who stumble onto a train disaster which, naturally, unleashes a mystery monster into their quiet town. Though treading on familiar territory and leading to a somewhat lukewarm conclusion, it’s got a great cast, some good drama and a real heart. “Super 8” is a warm and sincere homage to a bygone cinematic era, but it’s an era which -- thanks to throwbacks like “Super 8” -- has never actually been “bygone” long enough for this kind of loving throwback to feel completely earned.

When is The Kissing Booth 2 Coming Out on Netflix?

From The Cinemaholic:

‘The Kissing Booth’ is a romantic comedy in its truest essence. And just like most of the movies of this genre, it disregarded the critics’ feelings and went straight for the heart. Based on the book of Beth Reekles, ‘The Kissing Booth’ came out on Netflix last year. The story revolves around two teenage best friends Elle Evans and Lee Flynn, and Lee’s older brother Noah. Elle and Lee are best friends right from their birth, quite literally. They have strong rules in their friendship but teenage hormones threaten to put emotions before clauses.

‘The Kissing Booth’ featured a vibrant and young cast. Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Jacob Elordi starred as the young peeps conflicted with changing sparks. The movie received a fair share of negative responses from the critics but the audience was more kinder to it. It currently has a 17% rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. ‘The Kissing Booth’ was termed as a shallow attempt at good old high school romance and a step back as a misogynistic movie.

But these things don’t matter to Netflix as it was one of the most viewed movies of 2018 for the streaming behemoth. Apart from ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ which was a grand winner for both the audience and critics, ‘The Kissing Booth’ charmed the masses only. It was also the most re-watched movie in 2018 on Netflix. Its incredible viewership record prompted Netflix to announce the sequel to the movie in early 2019.

‘The Kissing Booth 2’ will also be based on a Beth Reekles book. For the sequel, the movie will follow the book, ‘The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance’.

Since sequel is definitely happening and it will come out very soon, let’s talk about everything we know so far about ‘The Kissing Booth 2’. But for that, we need to rehash our knowledge of the first movie. The sequel directly follows the events of ‘The Kissing Booth’ so let’s look at what happened in ‘The Kissing Booth’.

Jacob Elordi Is Officially Returning for "The Kissing Booth 2"

From Teen Vogue: Jacob Elordi Is Officially Returning for "The Kissing Booth 2"

If you’re a fan of The Kissing Booth, hold on to your seat because Jacob Elordi is officially coming back for the upcoming sequel.

On October 18 and following intense fan speculation, Netflix US confirmed the news with a short video on Instagram. “I’m returning as Noah Flynn in The Kissing Booth sequel,” the actor can be heard saying in his native Australian accent.

Even though the Euphoria star deemed Noah as “kind of awful” back in June, Jacob seems ecstatic to be returning to the film in the promotional clip, which finds him clad in what looks like an orange kart racing jumpsuit.

Apart from confirming Jacob’s return and reintroducing stars like Joey King and Joel Courtney, the small teaser gave us our first glimpse at some of the new characters in the franchise. In the clip, the streaming giant also announced the second installment of the series has officially wrapped filming.

The Kissing Booth 2 does not have a premiere date as of yet but fans expect it to drop sometime in 2020. And while plot details remain under wraps, the new book sequel, which will come out in January, could reveal some clues — so you can bet we'll be reading it cover to cover.
