Are romantic comedies making a comeback? Possibly. There are more heading to theaters or Netflix in 2020 than in recent years, which is good news for rom-com fans.
Here’s a look at what those who crave a good love story have to look forward to in 2020.
The Kissing Booth 2 – TBD 2020
Starring Joey King, Molly Ringwald, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Jacob Elordi, Taylor Perez, and Joel Courtney
The Plot: Elle Evans (King) just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn (Elordi). But now Noah is off to Harvard, and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. She’ll have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with her best friend Lee (Courtney), and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (Perez). When Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl (Richardson-Sellers), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs.

It’s no secret that Netflix has a wide range of TV shows and movies to choose from. Still, the new year = new streaming options.

'THE KISSING BOOTH 2'
Who’s in it? Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi and Molly Ringwald
When does it premiere? Sometime in 2020
The original movie, which was based on the best-selling novel by Beth Reekles, premiered in 2018 and followed a young girl who comes face-to-face with her longtime crush in a kissing booth. Although Netflix hasn’t revealed any details about the sequel, we’re total suckers for a cheesy rom-com.

The Wrap: J.J. Abrams’ Films, Ranked Worst to Best
Super 8 is #3 best, right after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015) and "Star Trek" (2009)
3. "Super 8" (2011) The only original film Abrams has directed is, ironically, a pastiche of iconic 1980s cinematic sci-fi–fantasy movies. “Super 8” tells the story of a group of adolescent amateur filmmakers who stumble onto a train disaster which, naturally, unleashes a mystery monster into their quiet town. Though treading on familiar territory and leading to a somewhat lukewarm conclusion, it’s got a great cast, some good drama and a real heart. “Super 8” is a warm and sincere homage to a bygone cinematic era, but it’s an era which -- thanks to throwbacks like “Super 8” -- has never actually been “bygone” long enough for this kind of loving throwback to feel completely earned.
