Pop Culture: "The Kissing Booth 2"

From Pop Culture:

On Monday, The Kissing Booth fans were delighted when Netflix officially released the trailer for the sequel, The Kissing Booth 2. Set to be released on Netflix on July 24, the film stars Joey King, Joel Courtney and Jacob Elordi. In advance of that premiere date, the streaming service has given fans a sneak peek at the Kissing Booth sequel with this recently released trailer, which showcases some drama ahead for Elle Evans (King) and Noah Flynn (Elordi).

In the trailer, Elle and Noah appear to be trying to make their long-distance relationship work. But, that isn't the only thing that Elle is going to deal with in The Kissing Booth 2. Elle's friendship with Lee Flynn (Courtney), Noah's younger brother, is changing as the two consider where they'll be going to college in the next year. To add to all of that drama, Elle seemingly develops a crush on new classmate Marco that could spell trouble for her relationship with Noah. Even though fans are likely eager to find out what's next in store for Elle, Noah and company, they'll have to wait until July 24 to see how all of the drama plays out.

The Kissing Booth 2 will see a reunion between exes King and Elordi. According to Us Weekly, the pair originally began dating after meeting on the set of The Kissing Booth in 2017. But, they later split towards the end of 2018. While filming with your ex could be an incredibly awkward situation, King explained during an episode of the podcast Mood with Lauren Elizabeth that it "totally worth it" to film the sequel with Elordi. “It’s a great movie,” she said back in October 2019. “I personally am a fan of how it resonated with the world and it resonated with me. So going back, and doing that, and making the sacrifice, obviously, what everyone is thinking about. I’m not outwardly addressing, but what I’m kinda on the sly addressing, making those sacrifices was totally worth it.”

King also said on the podcast that she's not just the star of The Kissing Booth, but she's also a big fan of the Netflix film, too. “I am very much, like, a freakin’ huge fan of The Kissing Booth myself which sounds really narcissistic, but I am," King shared. "It’s my night light at night. Because I don’t want to watch ‘Oh I don’t know what’s going to happen and I’m really invested to see what thing they’re baking on the Great British Baking Show.’ I’ve already seen The Kissing Booth.”

The Kissing Booth 2 Trailer Is Here & There’s A New Complicated Love Interest

From Refinery29: The Kissing Booth 2 Trailer Is Here & There’s A New Complicated Love Interest

Two years later, The Kissing Booth is finally back open for business. The sequel to the Netflix original movie, starring Joey KingJacob Elordi, Joel Courtney, and Molly Ringwald is officially set to hit the streaming service on July 24. Judging by the new trailer, The Kissing Booth 2 seems to promise just as many ups and downs in the messy realms of love and friendship as the first.

Based on the novel of the same name by Beth Reekles, the story continues right where the first left off. In the original, Elle (King) falls into a somewhat complicated whirlwind romance with Noah (Elordi), even though dating him threatens her best-friendship with his younger brother Lee (Courtney). After a series of hurdles and hilarious twists of fate, however, Lee and Elle work it out and Elle spends a happy summer with Noah before he goes off to Harvard.

In the sequel, Elle and Noah navigate maintaining a long-distance relationship, even though Elle is suspicious that her boyfriend might be enjoying college and his new female classmates more than she would like. On her end, Elle is once again faced with trying to book unwilling talent for the kissing booth — this time, the handsome, confident new "snack" Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez), who seems to have his eye on Elle. And of course, her budding love triangle and ever-changing future plans promise to mess with her precious relationship with Noah. Times change, but boy problems basically stay the same. Sigh.

The ‘Kissing Booth 2’ Trailer Has Fans Questioning Whether Elle and Noah End Up Together

From Showbiz Cheatsheet: The ‘Kissing Booth 2’ Trailer Has Fans Questioning Whether Elle and Noah End Up Together

Looks like there’s trouble in paradise when Elle Evans (Joey King) and Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi) return for Netflix’s The Kissing Booth 2

On July 24, the streaming service will drop the highly anticipated Kissing Booth sequel, which will pick up where the first film left off. But as expected, the couple has a few obstacles ahead as Noah begins a new journey at Harvard University. Now, can this romance survive the distance? The Kissing Booth 2 promo trailer has fans worried Elle and Noah may not end up together after all.

Elle and Noah finally got together at the end of The Kissing Booth — and it happened with the blessing of Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney). But even so, the couple only received a summer of bliss before Noah left for university.

Now, The Kissing Booth 2 trailer presents a new challenge — can Elle and Noah’s long-distance relationship last? In the promo released on July 6, Elle reveals it’s been “exactly 27 days” since her summer with Noah ended and she’s about to start her first day of senior year. However, she’s worried her boyfriend will meet someone at Harvard.

Then the preview jumps to Noah seemingly flirting with another girl named Chloe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). And as the trailer progresses, Elle appears to lose trust in her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Elle meets Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and his story seems to reflect Noah’s from the first film. Marco is the school’s latest hot commodity and Lee tells Elle to get him for the kissing booth. In the trailer, Marco declines and seems to spark something with Elle. Later, the two characters have a moment together on the beach.

At first, Marco questions Elle’s relationship with Noah. “Do you think you and Noah were meant to be together?” he says. In response, Elle says, “I always thought we were.” Then in another shot, Marco adds, “If I found someone smart, funny, and like the same stuff I like, I’d hold onto them.”

The Kissing Booth 2 promo trailer also offers another conflict Elle is dealing with during her senior year. For years, Elle and Lee have wanted to attend UC Berkeley because that’s where their mothers became BFFs. However, Noah wants his girlfriend to go to his university and Elle says she only applied to Tufts, Boston College, and Harvard. So naturally, when Lee finds out, he’s upset.

But whether she’s dealing with Noah or Lee, Elle’s journey in The Kissing Booth 2 will hopefully prompt her to carve out her own path. And as a voiceover in the trailer suggests, Elle needs to ask herself if it’s worth changing her plans for someone else.

‘The Kissing Booth 2’ Trailer Sees Elle Making Some Big Decisions About Her Future

From Collider: ‘The Kissing Booth 2’ Trailer Sees Elle Making Some Big Decisions About Her Future

Netflix has released the trailer for The Kissing Booth 2, the eagerly-awaited sequel to 2018’s The Kissing Booth. The sequel sees stars Joey KingJacob Elordi, and Joel Courtney reprising their roles as they tackle the next chapter of the Kissing Booth story, adapted from the book series of the same name by Beth Reekles.

“The kissing booth is open for business — again!” is a very real and very fun thing spoken but Lee (Courtney), longtime BFF of Elle Evans (King). But, wait, why is Lee opening the kissing booth back up and, uh, why is Elle back to do some kissin’ when The Kissing Booth ended with her and Noah (Elordi) finally coupling up? Well, as Elle’s voiceover narration in this trailer tells us, there’s a whole lotta story leading up to this grand kissing booth reopening. As the trailer goes on, we see that Elle and Lee, now high school seniors, are figuring out what their future looks like. For Elle, it’s grappling with her newly-established long-distance relationship with Noah, who’s moved from L.A. to Boston to attend Harvard.

The trailer teases the central drama of the story: that Elle is about to find herself in the middle of a complicated love triangle (as is often the case with teen dramas). One one hand, she has to deal with Noah having his own life at Harvard — which may or may not include a possible new love interest, Chloe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), rising up to threaten his and Elle’s relationship. On the other hand, there’s the arrival of the effortlessly cool and gorgeous Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez), who makes a great case for Elle ditching Noah as the two grow closer while working together on the newest edition of the kissing booth.

The Kissing Booth 2 will hit Netflix on Friday, July 24. You can check out the official trailer below. For more, find out what’s new to Netflix in July.
