EXCLUSIVE: Netflix on board for a third installment of The Kissing Booth, the continuing romantic adventures of Elle (Joey King), her hunky hot tempered boyfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi) and her best friend Lee (Joel Courtney). Vince Marcello, who adapted and directed the first two films from the novels that Beth Reekles originally self-published through Wattpad, has already finished shooting the third installment, and is in post-production on it.
King, the star and exec producer, just revealed the news during a livestream fan event. The film was quietly shot in tandem with The Kissing Booth 2 in South Africa, and it will be released in 2021. The third installment picks up where the second one left off. It’s the summer before Elle heads to college, and she has a secret decision to make. She has been accepted into Harvard, where boyfriend Noah is matriculating, and also Berkeley, where her BFF Lee (Noah’s brother) is headed. Which path should she choose?
Marcello produced the second and third films through his Picture Loom banner. The first installment became the most re-watched Netflix film of 2018. Besides King, Elordi and Courtney, also back will be original castmembers Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Young and Molly Ringwald. Marcello wrote the script with Jay Arnold. Marcello produced with Michele Weisler, Ed Glauser and Andrew Cole-Bulgin. King and Adam Friedlander are the exec producers.

It’s finally official – a third movie in The Kissing Booth franchise is on the way and Joey King confirmed that it has ALREADY BEEN FILMED!
The 20-year-old actress was joined by her co-stars Joel Courtney, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Meganne Young to announce the exciting news during a Fan Fest live stream on YouTube.
The latest movie in the franchise ends on a huge cliffhanger and fans are so excited to find out what happens in the next movie.
“I want to thank the fans for their tremendous support… the explosion of love has been so real. It’s because of everyone on here that all of this has happened,” Joey said while announcing the news on the live stream.
The Kissing Booth 3 will be released in 2021 and the movie was filmed back-to-back with the sequel last summer. The cast said that on some days they would shoot scenes for both of the films!
Here is what Jacob Elordi has said about that cliffhanger ending in the second film.
Announcing “The Kissing Booth 3” !

In The Kissing Booth 2, Joel Courtney plays the kind of BGF every girl dreams of. In real life, he's just as awesome as his character, Lee Flynn—and equally great at giving advice on all things related to life and love. Need proof? Just keep reading.
How do you and co-star Joey King compare to Lee and Elle?
One of the best things about our on-screen relationship is how similar and exact it is to our off-screen friendship. I think the fans are going to absolutely love the sequel—it's just more of Joey and me being goofy and funny and side-stitching together
What's the biggest relationship lesson you've learned?
Communicate openly and kindly, and be willing to listen. There are a lot of things that are just awkward to talk about, but if you can get past the uncomfortable factor of it. there's just a conversation. Then you don't have to hide it from the other person, which causes insecurities on both sides—it feels like there's lying going on, which is the end of all relationships.
What was your first impression of Joey?
The first time I really actually met Joey, we were getting our visas from the consulate so that we could go to South Africa to film. And she was so sick. She was losing her voice, she felt miserable—and she was still like the happiest and most joyful person. I was like, "This girl has a really cool, selfless nature about her."
What's the one thing about Jowy that would surprise people?
She's deeper than people think. I mean, yes, she's one of the funniest, most caring, sweet, kind people I've ever met. But she is, like, deep.
