Throughout, the focus is on ordinary people attempting to cope with extraordinary situations as best they can. Needless to emphasize, innocence and optimism eventually prevail.
Joel Courtney as the motherless child and Elle Fanning as the star of the zombie film the youngsters are surreptitiously shooting deliver commanding performances. As their movie-geek friend, Riley Griffiths is also impressive.

One of the main characters is Isabelle Fuhrman, who appeared in “The Orphan” and also acts in the upcoming movie “The Hunger Games” that is also being filmed in Western North Carolina. “The Healer” also brings in “Super 8”'s Joel Courtney and Natalia Dyer from “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
Big names include two-time Oscar-nominated director/actor/writer Peter Bogdanovich and actor James LeGros, who has several movies under his belt including “Point Break,” “Drugstore Cowboy” and “Enemy of the State,” as well as many television appearances.
Giuseppe Pedersoli and Susan Johnson are producing the project under the Italian company Smile Productions.

CAA has signed Super 8 star Joel Courtney.
The actor was previously at WME but became in play when his agent, Bonnie Liedtke, left to become a manager at Principato-Young Entertainment earlier in September. He continues to be repped by Liedtke and is additionally repped by attorney Derek Kroeger.
Courtney was part of the crop of newcomers cast by J.J. Abrams inSuper 8, the June hit from Paramount which grossed $258 million worldwide, where he played the male lead of a boy coping with the death his mother while dealing with an alien running loose in his town.
The part was a launchpad for Courtney, who snagged the part of Tom Sawyer in the indie feature Tom Sawyer and Huckeberry Finn. He is currently shooting the indie dramaThe Healer which co-stars Isabelle Fuhrman.

Trace Adkins has landed an acting role as a truck driver in the upcoming supernatural thriller, The Healer. According to a press release, Adkins' character is "a transporter of souls destined to hell. His huge rig is a prison for eternity from which there is no escape." In the film, teenage twins go camping with their father, then get lost in a forest. The film also stars Isabelle Fuhrman, Joel Courtney, James Le Gros, Peter Bogdanovich and Natalia Dyer. Written and directed by Giorgio Serafini, The Healer is currently filming in North Carolina.

Joel Courtney who many of you probably know from the summer hit“Super 8” is making a guest appearance on “R.L. Stein’s The Haunting Hour.”
The series is like “Goosebumps” where each episode features a different cast in a scary situation. Joel guest stars in theseason 2 premiere episode where he plays a film lover who gets the chance to experience life inside a movie. Sadly for Joel’s character "John" he sees what its like to be in a horror movie!
Besides appearing in The Haunting Hour, the “Super 8” superstar is playing Tom Sawyer in the new “Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn” movie with “Wizards of Waverly Place” star Jake T. Austin!
