‘Kissing Booth 2’: Author Beth Reekles Announces Sequel Book, Release Date, Summary

International Business Times: ‘Kissing Booth 2’: Author Beth Reekles Announces Sequel Book, Release Date, Summary

Last week, Netflix announced a sequel movie to “The Kissing Booth,” but there was no news yet about whether or not author Beth Reekles would be writing a sequel to her novel of the same name that started it all. That changed on Thursday when she made the big announcement.

“Coming in Jan 2020... THE KISSING BOOTH 2: GOING THE DISTANCE! And the news doesn’t end there - Coming May 11th 2019, THE BEACH HOUSE, ft. the first chapter of TKB2,” Reekles tweeted.

The first book and movie followed teenager Elle as she started a secret, romantic relationship with the brother — Noah (Jacob Elordi) — of her best friend, Lee (Joel Courtney). The story ended with Noah going off to college and Elle realizing she was happy with their relationship but that anything could happen because they were just in high school, after all.

Despite the author, who first uploaded “The Kissing Booth” on online story platform Wattpad, telling International Business Times in October how she loved the ending of the book and wouldn’t necessarily want to do a sequel novel, she did also reveal she’d love to see the characters continue onscreen in another movie.

Well, she got that wish with Netflix’s announcement, and it’s clear she’s had a change of heart and decided she wants to be the one to first tell the next chapter of the YA romance story.

“I’ve always been happy with how the first one ended, but it was hard for me to let go of the characters,” Reekles told IBT after making her sequel announcement. “I’ve had the sequel in the works for a while actually, but it’s just taken some time! I’m so excited to share more of Elle, Lee and Noah with everyone soon.”

There’s no release date set yet for the “Kissing Booth 2” movie, but the novel arrives January 2020, and Reekles shared that the film will be based on the book.

That means you can check out the summary for the book (and the film along with it) right here:

Elle Evans seems to have finally tamed hotter-than-hot bad boy Noah Flynn, but now they're facing a new challenge. Noah's 3,000 miles away at Harvard, which means they're officially a long-distance couple - and it's tough. After all, there's only so much texts and calls can satisfy - and when Elle sees a post which suggests Noah's getting friendly with someone else, she's devastated.

On top of that, it's hard to ignore new boy Levi. He's gentle, sweet, cute - and definitely interested in Elle.

With her heart on the line, what's a girl to do?

Join Elle, Noah, Lee and all your favourite Kissing Booth characters for another amazing romantic story that's sure to have you swooning.

On top of getting a second novel in the series, fans will also soon be able to pick up a copy of Reekles’ “Kissing Booth” novella, “The Beach House,” which takes place the summer before Noah leaves for college. It comes out this May and had previously only been available in Brazil or as a story on Wattpad.

While you wait for all of the new “Kissing Booth” content to arrive, there’s always the first book to read over again and the first movie to watch on Netflix for the 100th time.

Teen Vogue: The Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party 2019 Was All About Reunions and New Friends

This wasn’t just any old Hollywood party where people show up to see and be seen. Attendees were excited to greet their friends and colleagues and it became clear that for these young actors, who are navigating Hollywood and grappling with fame, friendship is of the utmost importance.

"I just got here and I'm pretty stoked because I've gotten to see a lot of friends already," said Joey King, a member of Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood Class of 2019, while walking the red carpet with her sister, Hunter. And when she found out her Kissing Booth costar Joel Courtney had already arrived, Joey got even more excited.

"I want a picture with him on the carpet," she said. "It's kind of funny because the amount we post together on the Internet is so little compared to how much we actually see each other. When I was filming The Act in Georgia, sometimes I would FaceTime my mom or sisters and he'd just be at my house hanging out with them. He's such a good friend, he's been with me through thick and thin. I love him so much and I can't wait to get into the story [of The Kissing Booth] with him again."

The new cast list includes Josh Duhamel as Sheldon Sampson/The Utopian; Ben Daniels as Walter Sampson/Brain-Wave, Sheldon’s older brother; Leslie Bibb as Grace Sampson/Lady Liberty; and Elena Kampouris and Andrew Horton as Sheldon and Grace’s children Chloe and Brandon.
